Ministerial Training
Spiritual Unity Movement Ministerial Training Program
Curriculum
The SUM
educational program is a 4-year study and training program, which
provides the opportunity for ministerial ordination through SUM and
all the privileges afforded ministers in the state of California
including the legal ability to perform weddings, offer spiritual
counseling, etc. Accredited classes include the first year training by
Reverend Patrick J. Harbula called Living in the Light of the Soul.
Below is a complete outline for the training program.
Year 1:
Basic metaphysical and comparative religious studies, meditation
training, counseling and purification. Or equivalent from other like
ministerial program.
Year 2:
Advanced metaphysical studies and training in counseling, leadership,
and energy work. Or equivalent from other like ministerial program.
Year 3:
Ministerial training including how to form and run a church,
ceremonial rites and advanced counseling training. Or equivalent from
other like ministerial program.
Year 4:
One-year assistant minister internship with Spiritual Unity Movement.
Or equivalent from other like ministerial program and six months
assistant minister internship with SUM.
Curriculum for Doctorate of Divinity Degree
Year 1:
Dissertation on specific spiritual discipline or principle to be a
minimum of 10,000 words in length and continued assistant minister
internship with SUM.
Year 2:
Development of specific Spiritual Unity Movement service program,
including but not limited to:
Meditation Festivals Ministry
Healing Ministry
Counseling Ministry
Educational Ministry
Research Ministry Outreach Ministry
Internet Ministry
